Have a Blast with These 5 DIY Outdoor Activities

Ahhh, Summer! This time of the year was made to let loose and have fun. With the kids home from school and looking for things to do, take the action outside. We’ve put together a list of five DIY outdoor activities you can easily do with your kids. From outdoor crafts to outdoor water sports, we’ve got you covered.

  1. Frozen Finger Painting

Freeze finger paints in an ice cube tray for 20 minutes, plunk a craft stick in the middle of each cube and continue to freeze. Once the paints are completely frozen, use the sticks to paint on fabric such as old bed sheets. Tip: Put a plastic sheet down before painting to contain any messes.

  1. Water Olympics

Have every family member pick a favorite water activity, then hold competitions in your backyard! Games we love: liquid limbo with a garden hose, capture the flag in the sprinkler and side-by-side water slide races.

  1. Sprinkler Tug of War

A sprinkler ups the ante for this classic game. Play against the kids or let kids play against each other. But be safe! Set the sprinkler a little back from the action so no one trips and falls.

  1. Chalk Bomb Your Driveway

Mix a cup of water with a few drops of bright food coloring and two tablespoons of cornstarch. Squirt into water balloons using a soap dispenser. Don’t worry! It’ll wash away with a good hose-down or rainstorm.

  1. Make Goop

Grab a big bowl and add a cup of water, two cups of cornstarch and a few drops of food coloring. Mix it up and start playing! Get creative by adding some glitter or googly eyes.

Try these five DIY outdoor activities, then make your own variations for endless Summer fun. The most important thing is to have a good time!
